Teaching

Prepare for: Fundamentals of Instructing

How people learn and how to evaluate them, the core of the FOI knowledge test and CFI oral.

Your CFI's syllabus and your airplane's POH come first. This page is a general study aid to help you show up prepared.

What you'll do

  1. Levels of learning: rote, understanding, application, correlation.
  2. Domains of learning: cognitive (knowledge), affective (attitudes), psychomotor (skills).
  3. Barriers to learning: fear, fatigue, illness, apathy, anxiety.
  4. Evaluate with open-ended questions and scenarios, not just yes/no.

The standard you'll be held to

Quoted from the current FAA Airman Certification Standards for each level that tests this.
